Upholstery Cleaning

Your upholstery is one of your biggest investments. So choosing who to do your furniture cleaning is no small decision.
You need experience and knowledge to safely clean upholstery and furniture. I can clean nearly any type of upholstery, synthetic, micro fiber, natural and leather! I use a wide variety of effective cleaning procedures for your upholstery or furniture. When I am finished cleaning your sofa, sectional, couch or chair  it will be clean and fresh.

After testing the fabric or leather, I will determine exactly how your piece should be cleaned. I pre-treat the fabric and rinse it with my very low moisture method. Most fabrics and leather dry in 2 hours. I carry a wide variety of pre- conditioners and the tools needed to provide the proper cleaning. I don't mean to brag, but I'm likely one of the best upholstery cleaners in the state! Use my services, and judge for yourself.

Even if you don't choose me, be sure when you get a quote that the company is taking your furniture and fabric type into account. If they use the wrong cleaning agents or methods, it could ruin your furniture piece!

A frequent deep cleaning of your upholstery will increase the longevity of your favorite furniture. Upholstery involves a variety of fabric types. I will be able to give you an immediate estimate of the required cleaning service. I can provide any type of required cleaning service, from durable to delicate fabrics.

I specialize in handling any of the following types of furniture:

- Sofas

- Chairs

- Ottomans

- Leather Furniture

- Arm Chairs

- Recliners

UPHOLSTERY CLEANING TIPS:

Upholstery Cleaning & Care
With the appropriate care, your upholstered living, dinining and bedroom furniture can endure many years of use. You can significantly extend the lasting beauty and life of your favorite pieces by carefully following the upholstery maintenance, cleaning and stain removal techniques provided below.

General Upholstery Cleaning & Care Guidelines
Follow these simple guidelines to keep all your upholstered furniture looking like new.

  • To avoid fading, keep upholstered furniture out of direct sunlight.
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture as often as possible. Even if your home furniture has seen little use, the abrasive qualities of dirt and dust particles can wear the fibers of the fabric. For high use furniture, it's a good idea to frequently beat the cushions, and then vacuum and rotate them.
  • Damp-dust arms and headrest areas with a cleaning solution to prevent body oil accumulation on the upholstery fabric. (Be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendation as to the type of upholstery cleaning solution to use.)
  • Avoid placing newspapers directly on home furniture upholstery fabric, since ink accumulates, and is difficult to remove.
  • Never cover your upholstered furniture with dark colored blankets, sheets, etc., as the dyes can rub off onto the fabric when dry, or bleed when wet.
  • Avoid using dyes, paints, nail polish, inks and Mercurochrome around your upholstered furniture. These substances alter color and will cause stains!
  • Never remove cushion covers for dry cleaning or machine washing, even though they have zippers.
  • Periodic, professional cleaning will prevent soil accumulation from marring the beauty of your upholstered furniture.

Upholstery Cleaning First Aid

Uh oh! You've just spilled a glass of wine on your living room sofa- what do you do now? It is important to act promptly, without panicking. Follow these guidelines to control the spill and prevent a stain:

  • FOR LIQUID SPILLS- Blot lightly with a dry paper towel to start. Increase pressure and use a fresh paper towel until no more liquid is absorbed. DO NOT RUB! If residue remains, see the stain removal guide below.
  • FOR SOLID OR SEMI-SOLID SPILLS (such as foods)-  Gently lift the substance from the upholstery with a spoon or dull knife, scraping carefully toward the center of the spill. Treat any wet residue as a liquid spill. If residue remains, see the stain removal guide below.
  • FOR DRY SPILLS (such as dry cosmetics or ashes)- Adding any liquid to a normally dry substance, such as dry cosmetics, can cause a permanent stain. Vacuum, beat the area with a ruler or similar tool. Vacuum again, then use the adhesive side of masking tape to remove any residue. If residue remains, see the stain removal guide below.

Check the manufacturer's label for any cleaning instructions and/or fabric cleaning code.

The following are the standard fabric cleaning codes used by furniture manufacturers. Use these codes to determine which cleaning methods are appropriate for your fabric.

W- Use water-based cleaning agent.

S- Use mild, water free cleaning solvent

WS- Use water-based cleaning agent, or use mild, water free cleaning solvent.

X- Clean only by vacuuming or light brushing.

Always test water or a cleaning agent by applying to the same upholstery fabric, in a hidden area. Allow to dry completely, then inspect its effect on the fabric.

Apply water or cleaning agent (as per the stain removal guide) in small doses to avoid spreading the stain or causing a ring. Be patient. Apply several times and blot firmly with a dry paper towel to absorb the liquid after each application.

Never rub a fabric, as rubbing could result in damage to the nap, loss of color or spreading of the stain.

Restore the nap on velvet by brushing gently before it dries.

To avoid water spotting, use a fan or blow dryer (on cool setting) to accelerate drying. Move from the outer edge of the affected area toward the center.

If the stain persists, seek professional cleaning assistance.
