Because Kleanrite has over 30 years experience in cleaning fine area rugs from around the world, you can be sure that we will take the best care of your oriental and area rug cleaning needs in Carmel Valley. The complete cleaning process for these hand-woven textiles can take 3-6 days. First, Kleanrite will come to your home to inspect it your rug and pick it up. Once the rug is in an environment where it can be hand-cleaned and dried quickly, we will perform a dry soil removal, and use a variety of techniques to “dust” the rugs from the front and the back. Then we will pre-condition the rug depending on the soiling type and the rug’s fiber content to emulsify the soils. Any difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to enhance the chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal. Next, we will shampoo the rug. Most rugs are cleaned with an Oriental Rug Shampoo that is especially designed to get maximum cleaning and protect the sensitive natural fibers at the same time. Depending on the type of rug it will then be rinsed with our extraction equipment on both sides or washed in a wash pit that is designed especially for Oriental Rugs. Once the soil is rinsed away, the rug is dried flat or hung dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage of the rug.

Once the rug is completely dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers that are specifically made for specialty rugs. Finally, our cleaning specialist will give the rug a last inspection and release it to be delivered. To best care for your rug after cleaning, it is recommended that you rotate it once a year to ensure even wear, vacuum it on a regular basis to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers, and use a quality pad under your rug to protect it from dirt, wear, and slippage. You should not vacuum the fringe with your beater bar; instead use the end of a vacuum hose from a canister vacuum to protect the fringe.
